Sixth International Conference on Surface X-ray and Neutron Scattering (6SXNS), Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands, 12 - 17 September 1999, http://www.research.philips.com/sxns/firs.html

The Sixth International Conference on Surface X-ray and Neutron Scattering (6SXNS) will take place September 12 to 17, 1999, in conference center Leeuwenhorst, Noordwijkerhout, The Netherlands. After the first meeting of this series in 1989 in Marseille, France, the conference was held in Bad Honnef, Germany (1991), Dubna, Russia (1993), Lake Geneva, WI, USA (1995) and Oxford, UK (1997). The conference will have sessions with invited and contributed speakers and posters, with ample time left for discussion among participants. The proceedings will be published in a special issue of Physica B.

Scope: This conference aims at bringing together scientists working in research on surfaces and interfaces of solid, liquid and soft-condensed materials, including multilayers, using neutrons and/or x rays, including the soft x-ray/EUV region. Topics in the various sessions will include: * growth and structure of surfaces and interfaces * surface and interface roughness * magnetism of layered materials and surfaces * surfaces and interfaces of liquids and soft condensed matter * soft x-ray and EUV scattering * polarised neutron and x-ray scattering * techniques, instrumentation and theory

Location: Conference centre Leeuwenhorst is located in Noordwijkerhout, a small village at the Dutch coast, within 40 km from Schiphol Airport and many of the interesting Dutch cities (Amsterdam, The Hague, Haarlem, Leiden, Delft, ...). There will be possibilities for indoor and outdoor sporting and tourist trips. A visit to the neutron scattering facility at the Delft University of Technology (IRI) will be organised. Note that only a limited number of attendees can be accommodated!

Further information: The second circular will be sent in the beginning of 1999 to those who have registered. Note that only a limited number of attendees can be accommodated! The website of the conference is http://www.research.philips.com/sxns/firs.html
